The pool industry has a bit of a reputation for overselling and under informing their clients. We at Pools by Bradley want to take this opportunity to inform you about situations that we have experienced over the years that can unnecessarily escalate your blood pressure. Putting in a pool is a big decision and we want to give you some information to make you comfortable with your purchase, no matter which pool company you choose.

  • Have your underground utilities located and marked. This will prevent damage to wiring or piping.

  • It is your responsibility to have the access path clear. This includes removal of landscaping and fencing.

  • In most cases, sod, sprinkler and landscape repairs will not be included in your pool agreement.

  • New utility hook ups such as a gas line to a spa, is your responsibility. This work can only be done by a state licensed gas company, and arrangements need to be made by you.

  • Pump and plumbing warranties will be voided if any after market accessories are added, such as miscellaneous water features, solar panels, heat pumps, or any other item that requires existing plumbing to be cut. We suggest that you plan to have these items put in during construction to keep your warranties valid.

  • Concrete pool decks will probably get some forms of drying cracks over time. Pools by Bradley takes steps to try to avoid this, such as reinforced decking and using fiber in the concrete; however, there is still the possibility of cracks happening. We suggest upgrading your decking to brick pavers if this would be an issue for you.

  • In some rare instances, there are unforeseeable conditions such as excessive ground water, underground bomb shelters, buried cars (you wouldn’t believe what we have seen), etc that cannot be predicted until the construction of the pool has been started. You, as the homeowner will be billed for such occurrences.

  • Construction on your pool will typically take 10 weeks to complete. We do our best to keep you informed of our progress. Please keep in mind that poor weather, material availability and any changes you make to your pool can throw any good plan to the dogs!

  • Please keep in mind that while all this is going on, the paradise you’ve envisioned is a construction site, dumpster included. Your neighbors will be upset, and your cat will be nowhere to be found. Just keep the vision and it will all be over soon enough!
